Upper Marlboro, MD – In commemoration of Memorial Day 2017, Councilman Mel Franklin (D-District 9) issued the following statement:

“This Memorial Day, we extend our thoughts, prayers, and love to all of the families of our brave men and women of the armed forces who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms that we far too often take for granted.  We remember these brave men and women as heroes.  Their loved ones also remember them as family, and feel a deep loss that never really goes away.  May God comfort and keep them, as holidays like today can often be especially painful with the overwhelming emotions and memories of their departed loved ones.  As a county and as a nation, we honor our brave and fallen heroes today and we extend our collective arms of love and support around their families.”
